Fundamentally we are in constant relationship, beginning with the relationship we have with ourselves, and then with the entirety of the ‘outer world’. Therefore, it is imperative to ‘know yourself’, for without this you are to some extent rudderless as you move and act in the world. Anis Nin states; ‘ you don’t see the world as it is, you see it as who you are’. The need for deep inner reflection and soul searching is essential in a world that constantly demands and intrudes upon us. We therefore need to have and set aside some ‘quiet and reflective time, uninterrupted so that we begin to sense our deep inner world .What lies beneath our external showing is in most cases the driver of our thoughts and actions. Knowing this enriches us in living a life that is meaningful and true to our essential selves.
